When I used to work in the hospital I always took the stairs for this very reason.

Smart. Most hospital workers are hams.

It was a few moves back. But I used to work in a hospital where the stairwells were pretty much designated as a "only if you're running" zone. It was for situations where someone needed to get to one of the floors faster than an elevator would allow. It was a blast. The only people who used them were in good shape. So it was just people jumping running and flying all over the place. In retrospect I don't know how that kept up without some safety concerns getting brought up. But for once actual practical results seemed to win over on red tape.

I never understand fat fucks. Three floors or fewer and I take the stairs because it's usually quicker. If I'm going higher it's usually better to take the elevator.
The fact that they can't take the stairs without being winded should shut HAES and all the fatties up but they blame the fact that they can't use stairs on our social acceptance of obesity.

Many years ago I had to visit WVU Medical Center to visit family. To this day, I remember the signs that were posted on every elevator that I had to use: (paraphrasing) If you are going up one floor or down two floors, please use the stairs. (And I still do)

I've lived in some places where fat people, as a general rule, do take the stairs. You seriously don't want that. One obese person is all it takes to stall the already often tediously slow pace of foot traffic on stairs. It's not even close to enough exercise to make a dent in someone's weight unless they're running them many times a day every day without "rewarding" themselves with more calories. Doesn't do them any good, and it just ensures that people who DO take care of themselves have to suffer because of the fatty who wants to think of themselves as healthy because they managed a herculean feat of using stairs.
The standard overweight level fat isn't much better. Though at least they tend to be small enough to not totally block off medium to large stairs by themselves. Ideally they just end up creating fast and slow lanes. Though even that's a bit of a dice roll on the general public being sensible enough to understand the situation.

My main issue with fats and elevators is they always think they can squeeze into a full elevator. Regular people see that it is full and will wait for the next one. Fats? Nope. They force their way on.
