All my kids have been born at home...not everyone can be this lucky every time but just remember you were literally designed for this by the creator. Make a plan ahead of time, knowing that hospital staff will likely try to take advantage of you in a weakened state to push drugs and interventions on you and they know EXACTLY when you are weakest. Some cunt nurses will just go ahead and pop your balloon when they tell you they are just checking. Say no to baby heart rate monitoring becase they will use it as an excuse to intervene, and interventions beget interventions. Make sure you husband knows what you want and is willing to be there and be your advocate.

Baby heart rate monitor saved my daughter's life. She would probably have died if they hadn't known that her heart rate was decelerating dramatically during my contractions...it was slow enough that, had it been that rate after birth, they'd have been trying to revive her. It's incredibly important for them to keep an eye on baby while you're in labour.

Pick a good doctor or midwife, do your own research, and have a plan in place and someone with you who can say no on your behalf if they try to push for a "treatment" you don't need or want. Beyond that, please do eat healthy food during your pregnancy and keep your weight under control; obesity makes pregnancy dangerous for both mother and baby. If you are obese before you get pregnant, lose the weight before you conceive if you can. Exercise and work on your core and pelvic floor.
