Every metal detectorist knows the law in England. Sounds like the guys tried to Jew the owner of the land, which to me is worse than them trying to fuck over the government.

10 years is too harsh though. A fine and being forced to share the appropriate amount with the land owner would have been plenty fair.

Last I checked the vikings currently have a nigger female in charge of their museums and treasures. Shit keeps catching on fire for no reason too.

If you find silver and gold in the ground melted down into bars and to never speak a word of where you got it. If you don't know that by now stop looking for Treasure you're wasting your time.

“The treasure belongs to the nation,” he told them.

This is probably the same guy who's a-OK with niggers and dune coons fucking up the UK.

2019-11-23 | Men who found Viking treasure using metal detectors sentenced to prison for failure to report find - The Washington Post

'Authorities say there are outstanding coins from the loot, and they are urging other metal detectorists and coin dealers to contact them if they’ve seen or heard about the Viking coins. '

'When the men found the treasure, they didn’t notify the farmer who owned the field or the authorities, BBC reported. '

'Only 31 of 300 coins reportedly in the treasure trove have been recovered, according to the British broadcaster. '

'The coins were typical of Viking use in the 9th and 10th centuries in Britain. '

'Instead, they contacted antiquities dealers and the National Museum Wales, to which they only declared one coin each and three pieces of jewelry. '

The poor guys were insane to disclose their discovery.

That sort of thing you smuggle elsewhere and use an intermediary to sell to a private collector.

Did not say trespassing. They probably said the day was a bust (as most cases are) to the landowner.

Trespass isn't really a criminal act in the UK anyway, unless on MoD or Royal land, until you do something else that can make it criminal.

In this case by digging the property, it is treapass with criminal damage.

But, as I believe the story to be, they gave the owner a few low grade coins and tried to hide the rest.

But someone always talks.
