I don't remember what the study was, but according to it, while their total muscle mass is indeed bigger, it's proportionately much lower than that of a healthy person, when compared to their absolute weight.

Proportionally yes. All that extra muscle is still over powered by the load they are under.

You had to go all the way to a 74 year old to prove a point.

An age where, unless you are an athlete, most of your muscle mass is depleted.

You may want to take notice that your example compares a triathlete to a sedentary person.

Sedentary doesn't mean fat.
