If you would be kind enough to indulge my curiosity, under what circumstances and to what populations do you think slavery is appropriate?

Humans can be property, just like any other resource. Its on you to prove that it's "wrong", not me to disprove.

Fair enough, burden of proof is on the person making the claim, however, you misunderstand; I've no interest in convincing you- I just wanted to hear your opinion on it. Slavery and property are abstract concepts, so I don't think there is any way to prove my opinion or yours even if either of us wanted to.

If you're asking about my opinion on those abstractions, I don't think that it's morally acceptable to treat any sentient life as a property. But in some sense it doesn't really matter what convictions I hold, yours are more accurately aligned with reality. We (assuming you are also gainfully employed) are tax slaves to the state, having effective half a year of the fruit of our labor confiscated through taxation can be reasonably construed as slavery.

So would you please answer the 2nd part of my question?

Property exists; humans use their power to exert control over resources.

In my society, children would be the property of their parents, wives the property of their husbands. Other slaves would not be disallowed.
