I would directly question why you feel the need to question others on what to wear? That's a self esteem issue speaking, and it's your problem, which has a cause that you need to confront. As for myself...like I said, I wear what works for me. If I'm cold I wear something warm, if I need pockets I wear pockets, and If I need a quick access to my knives you will never know where they came from. I'm a functionality guy, I don't care for fashion at all and I disarmed the fashion "urge" of my wife by simply kissing her forehead, telling her that she looks beautiful to me, and walking out of the room, whenever she asked me for a fashion advice. Why? Because the urge to appease by fashion is a corruption of the natural femininity by using masquerades to bolster it, so I ignore the mask and address her femininity directly to shatter the corruption.

I also remember once sitting next to a friend of mine who asked me casually which pair of shoes to wear. He had two pairs lying in front of him, so I grabbed one shoe, threw it into a nearby room and asked him if he still has problems to decide on what to wear. He laughed. Problem solved.

So you're just vane in a different way. You seek to emphasize your focus on utility to elevate the relevance of your personal perceptions of the world around you. It's like a Serbian jew double-bluff trying to peer pressure others into being absolutely utilitarian because for some reason you have hang ups about fashion. Just because you don't like fashion doesn't mean it's morally corrupt. You just sound bitter and spiteful, with nothing meaningful to say.

Utility is reason based on logic; it's adaptation to ever changing circumstances, which is the means of our survival, according to the laws of nature. Fashion outside of utility is creativity leading to culture on the positive side, and vanity, greed, insecurity, deception, hedonism etc. on the negative side. Even while ignoring the negatives, we are left with the reasonable question on what's more important culture or survival?

it's morally corrupt

What morals do you mean? The human lies based on a fixed etiquette forced upon you, or the natural "law of the land" which is based on constant adaptation? Natural morality stems from the consequences of our actions in between the barriers of life and death, which is what our instincts are calibrated to, and which is what we are allowed to navigate by using common sense.

You just sound bitter and spiteful, with nothing meaningful to say.

Because I don't care about fashion? Nobody ever called me out for how I dress. I mean why would they? I don't make a spectacle out of optics to appease others. You on the other hand didn't tell me the benefits you get out of your fashion first, but ask for my opinion instead. That clearly shows were your priorities are...on the opinions of others, which is vanity, which has a cause. This is not an attack on you; it's just an observation, from a guy who doesn't care for the opinions of others. Think about it.
