Also buying and selling houses instead of living in one place and improving it. Probably because of 0.2 acre lots instead of like 5 acres.

You may not be seeing it; at least in our house, my kids are learning to do things themselves. They're Gen Alpha, hopefully, anti-consumerism. They earn everything, and wife is on board with this. Think before you use money to solve your problems is a lesson they learn every day.

My grandmother grew up during the depression and her family was always poor, but they got by just fine. I’m lucky she passed on her knowledge to me. I hate living in a culture of consumerism, but I don’t participate in it. It mainly just upsets me that people have no idea their lives could be so much better.

Do it yourself and sell your production for exorbitant prices to the sheep.

I hate consumerism too. When my wife was a girl she used her mother's sewing machine to make clothes. Does anyone still have a sewing machine?

Making things takes you away from the TV.

I have a sewing machine! My grandmother taught me to sew since I was a little girl and got me my own machine for Christmas when I was 13. I’ve been making my own clothes ever since.

But that would inconvenience me and destroy the GDP.
