That's my interpretation, for what it's worth.

Thanks. I appreciate Q letting us know there is some kind of problem.

If the salt rotation goes as planned and everything is re-set it will erase everything including trip codes meaning the Q team would have to re-sign in again and the platform isn't secure enough.
I'm thinking they can upload things and have them post at a later time and some pictures (Obama pointing a gun perhaps) are set to be posted but it's not gone through yet and the salt rotation would keep it from posting and the Q team would have to re-post it again under less secure circumstance? I'm just brainstorming here.

Thanks for the reply. Seems logical. Q is trying to prevent some kind of trouble and I hope it works.

The salt change would change the tripcode.
The same passphrase entered would produce something different than: !!mG7VJxZNC
If it changes and Q doesn't have their own board up, which they don't and it doesn't seem like they want to, AND if posting pictures isn't secure yet there's no way to confirm their new tripcode.
Clowns love posting "as Patriots", and I bet the ones behind EyeTheSpy and SB2 would love to claim they're the new Q trip.
It would cause unneeded discord.
TL;DR No secure image posting + no secure board = No way to verify it's the same team behind the new Q tripcode.

I truly hope Q can prevent any real trouble.
Oh no doubt eyethespy is a fraud and possibly handeled by deepstate fags. I remember when it was first called backchannel17 and i think they said they were in comms wit Q or they were acting like they were communicating with Q. After that fuck up they chamged their name and still kept deceiving patriots. And SB2? Well honeslty his interpretations of numbers and shit is confusing as hell but sometimes it kinda makes sense but i always thought that maybe it was a fraud like eyethespy. Idk about sb2 but i do know eyethespy is a fraud. Can someone confirm if sb2 is a fraud as well? And explain why sb2 is a fraud.

confusion, delusion, disinformation, all's fair in love and war … !?

I think q is about to get a new trip code ..... platform is not yet stable and they are holding off trip code change until platform is stable enough .... likely due to mass bombardment against 8kun. Pictures are apparently a part of the problem ...,,my 2 cents worth

No, that’s a key. Salt is used to make it harder to fake a tripcode.
The way tripcodes work, you provide a password and then an algorithm called a “one way hash function” or “cryptographic hash” crunches it to generate the tripcode. However, many passwords will hash to the same tripcode, so a hacker can fairly easily find a password that lets them use your tripcode.
Salt makes it a bit harder for the hackers. The board operator makes up some text string (the salt) and appends it to the password before calculating the tripcode. For example, if the user gives the password “foobar” and the salt is “xyzzy” the tripcode will be calculated from “foobarxyzzy” not just “foobar”. That makes it harder to use someone else’s tripcode - you can’t use any old password that hashes to the tripcode, you have to find something that hashes to the tripcode and ends with “xyzzy”. That’s appreciably harder, but still not even remotely secure - there’s a reason why no one in military intelligence would ever rely on tripcodes to prove they’re not an imposter.
Changing the salt wipes out all the old tripcodes (use the same password as before and you’ll get a whole new tripcode).

Not sure. Some kind of IT talk I guess.

When you encrypt something, a salt is like an additional character/string to encode it even better.

I'm seeing it as at moment of update someone could beat Q to the Q identity.
[–] Lauraingalls [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago (edited ago)
I know. A FAKER can be in the wings ready to POUNCE and Q wants to make sure that doesn't happen.

Seems like Q wants to make sure everything is ok with his tripcode. I think.

Trump does, maybe we've been awakened?
[–] mundania ago (edited ago)
He can’t make sure everything is OK with his tripcode. It’s mathematically impossible, and that’s the problem with having depended on a tripcode this way.
A tripcode no more proves a poster’s identity than those nametags you see people wearing at a conference, the ones that say “Hello my name is” and have a blank space where you write down whatever you want.
