Never once have I felt scared of a gay. I have felt disgust. With all the push of accepting gay people, I thought for the longest time that the disgust would go away as I tried to be more accepting. I tried and tried to be accepting so I wasn’t outcast from social norms. They said this bigotry was me being homophobic. What it really was my body rejecting obscene acts and a defensive mechanism for my tribe/community to not let this behavior poison the well. The truth is, you don’t fear gay people you hate them and it’s perfectly normal. Much like how you hate a bad smell in your house. It’s no different.

"phobic" implies fear. I'm not afraid of them, I'm disgusted by them.
