The most frustrating part of Walker's ascendancy is how bulletproof he comes across in national press, while in WI he's at almost all times the subject of curtailed investigations (illegal campaign coordination), shady private business ties through WEDC (which he founded and served as chairman of while governor), and defunding his state's flagship, world class university. I can't for the life of me understand his appeal.
Nope, the main official audit, which was the most damning, was done by the State of Wisconsin Legislative Audit Bureau, the state's anti-corruption and anti-waste agency, which is nonpartisan and run by professional accounts with outside auditing, created in the 60s to prevent state audits from being politically influenced.
Perhaps even more telling from the "we can't afford to pay teachers" governor was the fact that in the dozens of cases in which Walker was breaking the law, almost all involved spending too much money on projects, losing track of money, not asking businesses Walker was connected to to bother paying back loans, etc. Essentially, it was a slush fund for Walker to steal money from the state, and that's what the third party nonpartisan audit found.
You would think that fucking extreme corruption would be a national issue, but the press doesn't want to seem like it's doing any muckraking against Republicans, so it's not widely covered in the national news.
The investigation was done by a state attorney, who aren't really political. The investigation was halted by a conservatively appointed state Supreme Court. It's all very political at this point, but why is the state of Wisconsin voting this guy in?
This could be tactical. If the other campaigns aren't calling attention to these issues the press probably won't cover it. The reason no one is attacking him on this is probably Trump. Right now he's sucking all the air out of the room. Any attacks on Walker aren't likely to even register. OTOH, if Walker's opponents believe, as many do, that Trump is a passing fad, they may want to wait until he's out so the attacks on Walker will be far more effective.
Scott Walker will make a fine VP or Labor Secretary (for irony) for one of the other candidates who actually polls well outside of the small Iowa town he grew up in.

Maybe because those investigations are done by his political opponents?
