While that's great news, even if we had 100% efficient solar cells (which we will never have), we're limited to 1000 watts per square meter for only a few hours per day (on Earth) anyways, which isn't a whole lot. Energy storage is our biggest issue right now, hopefully this has uses outside solar cell efficiency (and even if not, still great!)

The ability to upconvert two low energy photons into one high energy photon has potential applications in solar energy, biological imaging, and data storage.
