fjall raven is a shit company. they have a color called "UN Blue''.
that kettle of his cant cook food. what a waste. those boots of his are overkill and have no ankle support. if he brought at least one treking pole he could go over that uneven terrain much easier and use it to prop-up a clothes line.
-vasiline and cotton balls. great fire starter.
-i bet one of those extra tall spraypaint cans could make a great woodstove for cooking. no one has done this that i know of but if the form was used correctly(its tall and could tip) it would work,, really well. a second can could be cut into an adjustable dampener for the base and hole could be put in 2/3 the way up and the top as well for better secondary ignition.
-tarps are nice but a real live tent is ideal. especially if there is bugs, like spiders and unknown bugs. hammocks are for warm weather only; you cant pack-in a hammock in weather under 55f its silly.
-washing soda, bleach tablets, coconut-soap, hydrogenperoxide, phenol(chorloseptic), alcohol or some fuel most likely... i like a 1lb propane can and a torch top myself. isobutane cans are gay unless you have a refill plan.
-two pair of socks, two underwear, two pants, a short sleeve, a long sleeve, a warm-sleve, a hardshell and a beaine and a billed hat. wash as you go
-those LUCI lights/solar lights are tits. headlamps have so much damn planed obsolecence and markup for coolpoints,, it is ridiculous.
-bring a sharpener for your knife. bring a small sewing kit that includes a curved needle and a fairly long straight needle and dental floss for string. duct tape is a beatifull thing, so is seamsealer and/or rubber cement.. so is super glue,, great for bleeding.
-vitamins allow you to eat a bad diet easier. creatine is great too but high humidity will destroy it if not sealed right. a fat, like butter,, a protein and something sugary to go with coffee is great.
-army c-bag, equinox's katadin(sp), ULA equipment, gossamer gear,,,, for the love of god no osprey or anything REI has.. Mystery ranch makes nice bags but if you pack a sewing kit the robust nature of mystery ranch's bags are too robust i thinks.
-if you make a firepit to stay warm, dont put stones in front of where you sit,, only on the back. and arch the stones closer as you go up so its skinnier at the top. the heat will get tossed onto you this way.
