Or you could just do away with welfare...
[–] showbobandvagene 0 points 15 points 15 points (+15|-0) ago
We need to run live 400'000 volts through it, Actually, we could help save some cash and use it as part of the national power grid.

I'm still a fan of landmines. I'm sure we have enough in inventory!
[–] PunishedPatriot 1 point 1 point 2 points (+2|-1) ago (edited ago)
landmines are bitch to clean up, if the US ever decides to steamroll mexico and take what's left of the border we'd have to spend resources on removing them.
just use drone swarms equipped with radar and FLIR

Guess locks on doors are stupid now, because people can saw through.
Likewise safes are idiotic, because of safe crackers.
Leftist ignorance is the only truly impenetrable barrier.
[–] goatsandbros 0 points 9 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago
I thought it was a conspiracy theory that there even were smugglers. This more proves the need for a wall, but keep doubling down, corporate media.
[–] Tallest_Skil 6 points 9 points 15 points (+15|-6) ago
No shit, which is why we need a concrete wall and the military atop it.
[–] itsALWAYStheBANKERS 0 points 10 points 10 points (+10|-0) ago
Shoot to kill orders. Set up our perimeter 10m inside the border. Soon as you cross you get shot and we leave your corpse for the vultures.
[–] urp 1 point 2 points 3 points (+3|-1) ago (edited ago)
AHEM. NO US border fence ever positioned in HISTORY, except a river bank , has EVER EVER EVER been les than 100 feet from true border.
The fence is ALREADY well within USA and always has been for decades.
What it needs is a double fence, and of course extreme policing and real punishments.
[–] goatsandbros 0 points 4 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago
Take them out of the Middle East and Europe, put them just outside our southern border.
[–] Tallest_Skil 2 points -2 points 0 points (+0|-2) ago
The implication being that they would never get into office again, as the nonwhites would have been deported at gunpoint. Operation Wetback II: Electric Beanerloo.

Border control needs to monitor the entire wall 24/7, (as in standing in front of it in person) done or not. Then they need to shoot to kill anyone who tries to get through it. ZERO tolerance for illegals!
[–] clamhurt_legbeard 0 points 46 points 46 points (+46|-0) ago
Did you read the article? They cut through unfinished sections of wall.
When complete and hooked up to all the sensors, Border Patrol knows the instant they start cutting and is ready before they even get through.
[–] urp 1 point 20 points 21 points (+21|-1) ago
Lots of 100 dollar battery powered grinders can cut through in tests for nearly a year :
https://www.aol.com/article/news/2019/01/10/in-test-steel-prototype-for-border-wall-was-cut-through-with-saw/23639378/
It should be two fences, always, and a shoot to kill between the two.
[–] XSS1337 0 points 17 points 17 points (+17|-0) ago
So a DMZ .... I say 3 miles into Mexico leading up to the USA is a shoot to kill. Use drones to kill them.
If Mexico bitches we bomb them back into the stone age.

Nothing that 220 volts can't cure.
[–] whatisbestinlife 0 points 7 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago
pay me to operate a drone from my office
[–] clamhurt_legbeard 0 points 5 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago
Yes, and? That eats up time, and Border Patrol knows the instant you start cutting because if the sensors installed. They're waiting for you by the time you get through.
Here's video of the double wall at Otay Mesa.
[–] heygeorge 1 point 3 points 4 points (+4|-1) ago
Not all. Some. They also have used (surprise) ladders.
I’m interested in the sensors they intend to use. Allegedly they will sense the vibration and allow CBP to react. I’ve dealt with industrial control quite a bit. To put it mildly, if it’s wired, there is little way the sensor system will not be very simply disabled with cheap, readily available parts. The talk of sensors and response, in my opinion, is essentially a whisper campaign intended to act as a deterrent. It will keep some people from trying, but will not be effective against the cartels.
[–] clamhurt_legbeard 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
You could rig up a vibration sensor inside the wall and it'd detect vibration for a long way in either direction. All you need is that moment of detection and the Border Patrol Predator drones can already be directed to the location. Any disabling of the detector after the fact is useless.
[–] hang_em_high 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
What kind of sensors detect that? Movement ones near the wall or ones that actually tell if the wall is being tampered with? I need that shit for my house.
[–] NACHTJAGD 0 points 7 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago
Not going to give you specifics, but there's a cable at the base of the concrete foundation attached to the metal and the metal rod within the concrete within the concrete filled beam going all the way up.
It detects vibrations below [digging] a certain double figure feet depth and will detect heavy machinery driving on the border road or actual attempts at trying to tamper with the barrier such as vehicles trying to push against the barrier or try to cut or drill through the steel or concrete with power tools. New sections require time to be connected to the command centers. New section of walls are often hollow and they get the concrete filler within the beam poured in later.
[–] clamhurt_legbeard 0 points 5 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago
It's metal. Any vibration will travel extremely well.
Hell, you could put your ear to the metal and hear from a mile away. A sawzall is loud, that metal will transmit the vibrations for a long distance.

I used to install strain gauges on valve stems that could detect a twist from my hands..
Smaller than a postage stamp size device..

This is correct.
