Time zones in general are weird. Greenwich (the G in GMT) is GMT plus 1. Nepal is like GMT plus 5 hours and 45 minutes.

There's an infesting ComputerPhile YouTube video about it. I'm on a phone so can't link it easily.

How is that possible? Is the line a few kilometres away from Greenwich, but not closer to any other major town or something like that?

There are a few fractions out there. Australia has one and it's a joke to say "people from Adelaide are a little more than 30 minutes behind"
