A few weeks before christmas my parents put big, wrapped boxes under the tree. I was fascinated and spent so much time wondering and hoping for what could be inside them, trying to weight all the possibilities that my 10-year-old brain could come up with.
Then, the morning came and we started opening them. Inside the big box was another wrapped box. Then inside that, another, and another, and another.
In the end it was a small box that held a yearlong Disney pass. And yeah, that's an awesome gift, but I had been so looking forward to something big and exciting that the pass was a complete disappointment and made me run back to my room, crying because I didn't get what I want.
The rest of that year we all had a lot of fun going there every few weeks, but that initial unwrapping still stands out as a major first-world disappointment.

At least it didn't turn out to be socks in an Xbox container. Some parents are real shitty.

As a kid I used to dream about flying through nebulae, but then as I got older I realized that they are so spread out that you couldn't see the nebula itself from inside it :(

As a child, i wanted that fuckin cool mickey mouse drum set so bad...one day, my biological father was going to pick me up for the weekend and he told me he had a surprise for me from his Business Trip he recently did...i was excited as fuck, rocking this badboys in my mind...i was so disapointed when he proudly handed me this over as "the surprise" (he was in bavaria for his Trip)

It's called "wanderstock" in German, so i guess you could say wander/walkingcane...see that badges on that? You can buy mostly in small villages in the alps...they increase your badassness on the hiking trails (assuming you're 60+)...would i buy a thing like that as a surprise for my 6yo? Absolutely not :)

Finding out that Santa wasn't real. It took me a few extra months to put it together that if Santa wasn't real, neither were the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy. It was a rough few months for tiny me.

I feel you there man. And I was told right around my birthday so it made everything a lot harder. That was the worst 25th birthday ever.
