Entropy. I didn't know what it was called as a kid, but I had this idea that a device could last forever if you treated it properly. I was going to be an inventor and change the world. That energy was 100% transferable. The 3 laws of thermodynamics and the idea of entropy disappointed me to no end. I could no longer obtain an 80's Lamborghini and make it last the rest of my days...
