Why not just prohibit the practice entirely?

Yup, I agree, but concede that we probably can't get top tier people to take these top gov offices without sweet compensation packages. I think some schmechanism to pay more competitively would be WAY better than the dirty pay-off system we have now.

Smells like trolling bait, but okay, I'll bite. What's a fair "competitive pay" rate for being the final arbiter of all legal conflicts in the land?

Judges get paid pretty well, though. I mean to have the kind of career in law that ends in the Supreme Court, you've earned a few bucks over the years. I hate that no one understands the service part of any government job anymore. You want to be a billionaire, work for a hedge fund. You want to shape America and have a legacy, aim for Congress or the Supreme Court. But you should have to pick one.

I mean, these are people who've written mass-market books as memoirs etc. There are things that are appropriate for them to do (guest speaker at a college, write a memoir) and things that aren't (let a dodgy corporation fly you somewhere on vacation). Ultimately, if you want millions of dollars you probably shouldn't get into public service jobs. That's the part everyone's forgotten. These jobs are supposed to be about SERVICE. Not lining your own pockets.

Really? The number one reason these people are attracted to the job is because of the inherent power and the ability to chart the legal course of the nation. They aren't doing it for the money.

And while we're at it, establish cumulative 25 year term limits for all federal offices, including congressmen and circuit/sureme court judges.

25?

More like 8.

Politicians are like diapers, they should be changed often.

and for the same reason.

Yes, have them pass laws against themselves and their actions. That'll totally work!

Absolutely!! Prohibit the practice ALTOGETHER,...problem solved, done, next! All easy fixes, but then what would the gubbermint have to do except twiddle their thumbs.

Hmmm...isn't it interesting how democrats are suddenly worried about a potential conflict of interest after the court takes a turn away from the Jew World Order. I sense a cohencidence....

WGAF? This isn't even a whiff of moisture on the Federal government. If you want to talk about wasteful government spending, you're way off the mark with this.

Why do they not make everything open. We should know exactly where all money goes. We should know every penny which goes to anyone who is paid with tax payer money. It should be printed or released on a monthly basis.

Then you'd see the corruption, silly goy.
