Patriot she cranked me up to, but I was thankful she left our tribe out of it, but my sympathies did go out to the Cherokee's. Quite familiar with Rosebud as I have family on both Rez. another cousin told me we had one that was trying to go to standing Rock, not sure if that worked out, I suspect not, because in Lakota tradition, if it does not work out the matter is dropped, to not make the person feel bad. nobody will talk about it. , I still sing those songs even today. LOL. I was asked if there was a English version, I had to reply no, we could but not sure if it would be in sync with the drum, which is the heartbeat of the planet so to speak, being in rhythm with the Creation. I know what you mean, the life expectancy has dropped, there are third world countries that have higher. Our biggest battle is alcohol and drugs. and we are trying hard to turn that around. but like Pine Ridge the unemployment was over 80%. and people want jobs and all, but Govt red tape keeps many businesses away. with jobs come hope.

yes, with jobs come hope AND self respect. It's the lack of a sense of achievement - a larger purpose - that keeps so many people around the world down. I think about that drumbeat a lot now. When I hear it I automatically begin to dance. I dream about that sometimes. Always wish I could wave a feather and take away the drug and alcohol problem. But that's only a symptom of stolen dreams. Mark Victor Hanson once said, "Kids are shooting dope into their brains because we haven't shot enough hope into their brains." Says it all.
