I'm growing those right now. Literally a paper thin sliver and I thought I was going to die. Hottest I've ever eaten. I'm keeping the plant away from the kids too.

I think it is related to the 'flora and fauna' in your stomach and intestines. The wrong bacteria or lack of the right bacteria and the capsaicin doesn't get digested.

That's an interesting point. Makes sense. Maybe somewhat like only a percentage of people generating "asparagus pee", due to different processing.
