Always keep your resume and references up to date. There's always a better job out there, the best time to find it is when you already have one.

@Chempergrill this is also very good advice. I'd add never stop looking for a different job. Even if you like the one you have. Always keep one in your back pocket.

Well I gave up on Corp America about 18 years ago. Work as an independent contractor\self employed now. But, when I worked in Corp America, couple rules. Never get personally involved with anyone at work. Don't tell anyone about your personal life, don't get involved in theirs. Feel free to eat lunch with people that are pleasant, just keep them at arms length. Never drinks after work, unless its a department or bigger function. Then have two drinks, be pleasant and leave. Don't get upset about stuff, if someone needs corrected, do it, state the facts, move on. Nothing at work is worth getting pissed about. It's all bullshit anyway. Do your job go home or hang out with friends not from work.

Glad you got out.
That's great advice. I shared too much at my first corp job because I didn't know any better. Made some friends along the way, but it cost me.
That's so important.

Glad I could be of assistance. I learned all that the hard way, so if I can help somebody avoid some of the shit I went through, that makes me happy.
