For all of the havoc it'll also be liberating. I recall some leftist saying the participants at Charlottesville came at them as if they had been unleashed. That they had been holding it all in. For many years. And indeed they had. And still are...

It won't be American only. The conflict and the divisions in society that we are seeing in the US are occuring all over the world. Revolutionary innovations in communication technology breed political and societal turmoil. The internet is the most revolutionary innovation in communication technology since writing was invented. Even the printing press can not compare because the literacy rates were not high enough for the value of it to permeate every layer of society like the internet can.
The first sign of it was in countries with some of the least flexible government systems - the arab spring. The turmoil in Hong Kong is the same thing. In democratic countries like the US and Canada the conflict is playing out as competing PR campaigns, basically a civil war of propaganda. I get the point the article is trying to make - if foreign states choose a side in a US civil war then they will choose the leftist statists. I don't really that type of a conflict playing out only in one nation at a time though. They'll be dealing with the same conflicts in their own country and won't be in a position to interfere in ours. In fact, if they tried to, that might be the trigger to set off the conflict in their own country. The enemies with less flexible governments than the US like China and Iran, will break out into their own civil wars long before the propaganda war in the US turns into a civil war.
