Strong men make good times. Good times make weak men. Weak men make hard times (<—You are here). Hard times make strong men.

Why let other peoples circumstances define your state of mind and emotional well being. I know a person that just this week found out that his life long friend of more than 60 years (72 year old man) has gone into hospice and will most likely die within a month .... the person that is "not" dying is wallowing is self pity and has paralyzed himself into a dark depression while the person that is actually dying of cancer is making the best of what time he has left and living what limited time he has left in a happy positive place and is thankful for all of his life experiences.

Again, why allow someone elses life experiences define your mental and emotional well being? Why lash out at others that are attempting to point that out to you?

Good point. This is a very short way of summarizing the book "The Fourth Turning".... written in 1997, it predicted we would be in a Crisis period between the years 2005 to 2025, a crisis on the order of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and WWII, each occurring about 80-100 years apart. The authors' view is that history is not linear, but it's cyclical, and humans go through the same four cycles (or "Turnings") every 80 to 100 years. So here we smack dab in the middle of their predicted Crisis period, and guess what? WE ARE IN A CRISIS PERIOD. They also predicted that an Abraham Lincoln-like person would rise to power to see us through the Crisis.... and I give you Donald J. Trump.

People instinctively understand your thoughts here (Strong men...etc.), and they voted for an outsider, a change agent, DJT.

Fantastic book. Nomads do the lifting but never get the credit for perservearing through the winter as the summer forever crowd panics watching the artificial greenhouse collapse was my take away.

Look at it this way, like I do.... I see this as my personal method of self-improvement. I remain the same, with my principles adopted from the Founders of America intact, while the world around me dissolves into madness and totalitarianism. Voila! Self-improvement the easy way.

.... My son almost died 2 years ago, was in a coma and on life support for a week, had all but 8 inches of his left leg amputated, his kidney's failed and he was on dialysis for about 2 months .... He has excruciating, constant phantom pain in the foot and leg that was amputated, walking with a prosthetic leg only causes more pain BUT, he is the most positive, grateful person I know. He is thankful to be alive and looks for only the good in all things, even this crazy, mixed up, fucked up world.

Like ole Red from the movie shawshank redemption said "Get busy living or get busy dying".

Absolutely everything that we experience in life is what makes us who we are. Embrace the good and the bad, learn, live and grow from all of your experiences. Happiness is not a thing that happens to us, it is what we make of and how we interpret our circumstances.

Surround yourself with like minded people and do not worry about people, family, friends, acquaintances that you cannot control, leave them in their dark place and stay in the light.
