I was always taught never to wave to police, as it is (or at least was) a signal of distress. There's a chance the officer was assessing whether your child was in distress and decided they weren't, so just moved on. I agree the officer could have been more courteous considering the circumstances, though.

Years ago when the arresting officer lied in his report. Despite the fact that my testimony and the supporting officers testimony disagreed with that liars claim I was still convicted. I chalk it up to bad lawyers and good liars.
Fuck the police.

Pulled up beside me in the left land at a red light, noticed I was "texting". In reality, I was chaining a song on my IPod touch. Light turns green he speeds up, cuts me off, slams on breaks to try to get me to rear-end him.

I was riding my motorcycle on a major highway (rt 75 in florida). 2.5 hour trip, I'm cruising at 5 over the limit with my cruise control on. My right hand wasn't even on the throttle, it was stretch out behind me resting on the right saddlebag. In front of me is a cop. Plenty of distance between us. So much he has enough room to speed up and slow down repeatedly without my ever getting overly close. I was leaving far more distance than typically necessary because he was driving erratically. The sudden speed varying, and nearly drifting off into the barrier (we were in the left most lane) a couple times.
After almost half an hour he pulls one lane over, drops back, looks at me as I pass (no way to miss that I'm not touching the throttle, arm in the breeze behind me remember), slides in behind me and hits the lights. I pull over, shut the bike, take my helmet off and wait for him. He comes up and starts bitching at me for speeding and pacing him.
I keep it polite and friendly and just play confused dumb, asking him to help me understand how I could be pacing him when using cruise control? I always thought pacing meant varying speed to keep, you know, pace? And sorry about the speed, I thought 5 over was acceptable? I've been driving/riding for 22 years, that's what I've always been taught.
After a little back and forth I could see when the light bulb moment hit, where he decided I didn't fit any problem profiles, and he was just being a dick if he continued giving me grief. His demeanor completely shifted to friendly chatting for a couple minutes about bikes and random stuff and then he took off.
Nothing beyond the harassment of dealing with it all happened, but only because I didn't offend him in some way or look like an easy mark. It's incredibly demeaning to have to exercise the same types of skills I use when dealing with angry unfriendly dogs to protect myself from a police officer.

I'm hesitant to post this, because I'll sound like a whiny idiot that got what they deserved, but you'll just have to believe me.
This past week I got a bullshit reckless driving ticket that carries up to a $1000 fine and 90 days in jail (potentially) because I was trying to get away from a road rager that was trying to run me into oncoming traffic and off the road. Now I have to pay a traffic lawyer and hope the judge isn't a cop-siding prick. Or maybe the asshole that gave me the ticket won't show up and I'll get off free.
The entire time I was talking to the cop, he was trying to get me to incriminate myself whether it was true or not "you were trying to pass in no passing zones... right, right?" or "so you were driving on the shoulder, right?". Now whether any cops I meet in the future are the nicest in the country or the biggest assholes, I will NEVER trust them. They're lying pieces of shit that want to flex their authority and get as much income for the city as they can, whether it's for a legitimate reason or not.
edit: oh and he tried to make me be thankful that he was there to ticket me because he gave me the typical bullshit "I'm gonna be nice and not take you to jail" yeah right, you just know you'd get in trouble if you took another person that did nothing wrong to the jail.
more edit: and now you see why I was hesitant to post and why voat really isn't as different as we'd like it to be

I was personally affected negatively by cops when I watched their brutality on video via the internet. I was angry and upset by the injustice and the maltreatment of my fellow man.

I had one when I was a teenager. Where I used to live, there is a law that teenage drivers, under 18, can't drive alone without a parent after midnight (or something like that). It was new when I got my license, but I knew about it.
So, one night, I was at a friend's house and I saw it was getting close to midnight, so I left. Being a new driver, I got lost on my way home, and had no idea where I was. On my way back I noticed a police cruiser behind me, so I voluntarily pulled over to ask him for directions.
No, I'll take a second to admit that I was in the wrong, and that I was breaking the new law, but I tried my best to stay as legal as possible.
So, when I pulled over, so did he. Protocol says he has to call for backup for all stops after a certain time, so a second interceptor arrived after a couple of minutes. We all talked and I explained the situation.
They threatened me, and unless I let them search my car, I'd be "in trouble." Being a dumb kid, I consented to a search of my car. While one officer searched the car, the other patted me down to make sure I didn't have any weapons.
When both searches were done, they gave me directions, drove off, and let me get back into my car. When I climbed in, it was a wreck... my owner's manual was literally torn to shreds, the coins (tons of coins) I kept in my console were literally everywhere, and the door to my glove compartment was broken.
The next day I tried to file a complaint, but ended up getting bullied to the point where I never even got a hold of a complaint form... I was still a kid and didn't know how the system worked.
