Whence ever it's origins, it's a bang-on example of trolling. Imagine how far the saying has proliferated, and how many minds it might have changed.

Reading E Michael Jones' Libido Dominandi, and Voltaire was more of an asshole than I realized. His work has ruined the lives of countless people.

Yeah Jones really dislikes Voltaire. I read Monsters from the Id recently. He also hates the Shelleys.
Why does WHO said a quote matter so much more than the quote itself?
If Voltaire said it, then it is true, but if a white supremacist said it, then its not true? Either the quote is poignant or it isn't. It was very much true in Revolutionary/Napoleonic France that there were characters behind the scenes, pulling the strings.
Like 'The Grey Eminence'.

Give 'Degenerate Moderns' a go. In it Jones annihilates Freud from every angle (also Martin Luther, Picasso and yet again Kinsey among others). It's a great addition to Libido Dominadi, because he goes into more detail, like directly quoting the child abuse lines from the Kinsey's Report.

Guy lives in Alaska and has no doubt a lot of grief over the years for being a "nazi". Plus I read Strom likely got it from another guy, whose name escapes me at the moment.
I just think the phrase is older but now the powers that be have made sure almost all links to the phrase say a horrible bad think person did it. Because they can't have people thinking about who rules over them.

I'd say the best thing to do here is to follow it back to it's source because people genuinely don't know, the thing is though it rings true and requiring a statement to be qualified by the speaker's identity is suppression of free thought.
This is why true anonymity is so important. it forces people to face the challenge of a lone idea or statement, bald of greater ideology or politics.

Does it matter? It’s true.
[–] ShakklezthaKlown 2 points 0 points 2 points (+2|-2) ago
yeah because you sit on voat all day not talking about the jews.
if they rule over you, they're quite merciful.

I’m trying to figure out what you’re even attempting to say here. Either it’s a bad attempt at sarcasm or a terrifyingly accurate Poe’s Law.

I got a book of quotations from 1942 out. It is not amongst Voltaire's sayings. I cannot find it in the index either.

I think Tacitus said something similar.
