Very nice! I always liked open Carry with a concealed backup. It should be mandatory to carry in a public place unless you have a liscence to NOT carry. This liscence will be expensive, since it means others have to do your job for you. The money cna be used to arm poor people.

Open carry? Everybody knows you have a gun. Easy for bad guy to just take it off you when you get distracted. Bad idea.

Not necessarily; the main problem is that many people (mostly fudds) carry both openly and concealed with the "talisman" mentality. That is to say, the weapon is not a tool for self defense, but a magical amulet that prevents bad shit from happening, which is a faulty line of thinking in of itself. Women tend to have this mentality too -- they get this cutesy notion that they're badasses with their dinky stun guns or pink pepper sprays. Like, they're perfectly safe with the item buried under six inches of crap in their purses.
I've open-carried both casually and for work. Mine is always in a lvl 3 holster -- people that think you can just "take a gun" off someone openly carrying usually don't know what they're talking about. I also cringe when I see thumb break holsters or anything lvl 1. Weapon retention always starts with the mind.
To the latter point -- allowing yourself to be unduly distracted in general is bad practice overall. Whether you're armed, unarmed, open or concealed carrying is kind of irrelevant in such cases.
Additionally, when open carrying in plainclothes, I've found that the majority of people don't even notice you're armed. Most people are self-absorbed and woefully distracted themselves. Sure, I've noticed some unsavory characters staring at me and my piece, but I imagine they'd do the same to anyone that looked like a potential threat and/or victim, so the firearm, once again is fairly irrelevant. Outside of adults, the ones that tend to notice I'm carrying most often are children, probably because they're eye level with my hip.
