im pretty sure its a throwback , because George Bush called previous Australian PM 'man of steel' for (dishonorably) backing him in the coalition to destroy Iraq / Saddam Hussein

but what value Trump sees in this otherwise petty one-upmanship, im unclear

Could be a subtle reference to Bush, but in either case, Trump has an IQ of something like 180, and doesn’t do or say anything without a reason.

gee ya may want to look closer for a pattern … IE: petty w Nkor then peace, petty w State Dept 7th floor now obliterated, petty w Deep State now confused & destabilized, petty w FBI brass now decimated, petty w border wall now on track for 500 miles in 2019 … I could go on and on

Good question. I'd like to know more if anyone has any real insight.

Was odd/noticeable to me that something special was going on with all the fanfare.

The Cia setup shell companies to buy titanium from the soviet union during the cold War to build the sr71.

Fun fact.

Melania is the White Queen (PM's spouse wore black).

imo, the Red Carpet thing was for a QMarker-Timing-Optics.

Did you note--in Melania's slide show vid of the evening (POTUS Tw'd)--the large clusters of white grapes on the tables? Harvest, indeed. :)

For giggles, the English Ordinal Gematria for 'man of titanium' = 156.

Value matches:

Total Losers = 156

Horrible People = 156

Surrounded by press in the Oval Office, Trump dubbed the Prime Minister a "man of titanium", purposefully choosing a harder metal than George W Bush's "man of steel" label for John Howard, the last Australian leader to be honoured with a full state visit to the United States.

"I would say a man of titanium — titanium is much tougher than steel, he is a man of titanium," he told reporters while flanked by their wives First Lady Melania Trump and Jenny Morrison. "He's a man of titanium, believe me, I have to deal with this guy.

"You might think he's a nice guy, OK, he's a man of real, real strength and a great guy."

Atomic number of titanium is 22. Q#22 references Marines who just tweeted DStress today. But a search of 22 on qmap.pub brings up many interesting results
