Neat. There is an ipad app that does something like that. It used the device's gyroscope to detect movement in the night. Whenever you are scheduled to wake up it'll wake you up when it detects movement (lightest stage of sleep).
Ah, nothing's really been a 1 stop fix for me and my sleep problems. When I feel sluggish I now know why at least. It's more like diagnostics to me. All interesting though.

Yep, I have a similar app on my phone (android) that helps me sleep, it really makes a difference.
