I believe she was looking for her two minutes of fame. I watched the debate, and it appeared she began by trying to use her dramatic acting skills to talk to Cruz about her beliefs, unsuccessful in her attempt. It was very obvious, she was unprepared for the skills and knowledge of Ted Cruz.

Forty-eight minutes in and still waiting for one of the three gun control activists to support Ted Cruz's bill that focuses on felons or at least debate the worthiness of the bill. Cruz asked them twice for their support. They just blew him off. Finally, at 55 minutes in, after Cruz brought it up a third time, Fred G. agreed to look into Cruz's bill.
