Everything bombed to shit and even a plane crash and life still goes on. It's fucking amazing what people will deal with to try to keep their lives moving and organized. I can only imagine how much time and effort must have gone into making those buildings. Truly a master class in building when they can withstand so much torment.

I watched a documentary. I think it was National Geographic's - Nazi Megastructures: U Boat Base
Because U-boats didn't have the best range, the repair/refuelling base needed to be near Britain. Therefore well within bombing range. Britain bombed it repeatedly, but after each raid, it'd be back up and running in very little time.
Britain then built the largest bomb ever made at that point, and dropped in on the main repair building. A direct hit.
It hardly damaged the building.
The building had 2 roofs. One on top of the other with a large gap in between. Bomb hit the top roof and exploded, the second roof was fine. I laughed when the narrator said, "Imagine being in this building when the largest bomb ever made explodes right above your head".
It's amazing to know some of the things White people can be capable of when we aren't being held down by the lesser races.
Heli's really weren't common, though the Germans did make a prototype heli that, if I recall correctly, was more like an Osprey than your average helicopter.
The short story is that the Germans invented a helicopter which was an excellent way of moving troops around. So the Army and the Air Force argued for months who gets to use this nice thing ("it moves troops, it's ours! - no, it flies, it's ours!"). This was 1944, so in the end it didn't matter.
