Because there was literally anything under the surface, it means we live on a non-flat surface, right?
The question isn't whether the Earth is flat... if it were, you'd pierce it digging at all and see through to the other side.
The debate is on the shape of the non-flat Earth. It's misrepresented on purpose because the conspiracy is an attack on language/communication/society.

That's not how the flat earth model works. Its how the propagandized flat model is portrayed as a disc floating in space.

A disc wouldn't be flat, though, either (at least not a disc with mass, and certainly not one that you can dig into 6 miles). I'm not trying to be a nit picky asshole here... just making the point.
No one argues that if we dig, we puncture the flat Earth, and can see through to the other side.
Whatever it is they're describing, it's not a flat plane.. so the discussion should be, what is it shaped like.
I assume "flat Earthers" believe in a non-spherical Earth. If they were really careful about their description of whatever they believe, they'd admit it can't be flat either.
