Yep this is it. Impossible even the most cowardly crew would have tried to save a few.... They saved NONE!

Why would "divers" on a commercial diving boat all die when they are supposedly skilled at swimming?

One of the news outlets KTLA I think claimed that there was only one way to get down below and they figured that the fire was so intense and blocked the exit which is also where they stored all their gear supposedly. They figure they would have passed out from smoke inhalation very quickly.

Well, Jacque, apparently diving skills aren't very effective when you're asleep and trapped inside a burning boat below deck at 3:00am? What were they supposed to do? Hold their breath until the fire was out? Skillfully swim through the fire? Quick, decode Trumps sneaky tweets to get to find out what really happened.

Some of you clowns are no brighter than the dupes on the left.

We need to ban assault boats.

Especially these fully-semi-automatic ones... there is no need for any citizen to have a boat like that. Boats like that should be left in the hands of the military.

Fully automatic gasoline engines, my friend. Think about it. You pull the trigger once and the engine fires thousands of times. You have a magazine capable of feeding that engine thousands of shots per second for hours on end. The end result is a high-speed projectile that is under the control of a madman (or madwoman) and capable of very deadly things. Very deadly things indeed.

Ban civilian use of internal combustion engines.

No boat should carry more that 15 gallons of gas, that should be all you ever need.

Who needs large capacity boats like that anyway?

Isn’t the boat name “Conception” weird? I mean, guess it could refer to non-sex things but it could have held more people. And like folks are pointing out, only the crew survived.

But check this out. The boat was stolen in 2005 and parked at a top secret base:

That’s odd.

The boat that only rescued the crew: "The Grape Escape" Edited* I thought it was called "The Great Escape"

Apparently the way the boat is built. The sleeping quarters are down below because there is supposedly less movement from being in a boat on water and the crew's quarters are above to be close to the bridge. I hope it wasn't a boatload of missing kids.

Vandenberg isn't a top secret base, it simply is a base.

Damn the fluff.

Technically he is correct in saying its a "Top Secret" base, in that you need that clearance to operate there in its main capacity. It's main capacity is a missile launch and testing, space operations and tracking base. "Simply a base", it is not.

Edit: might add I did 24 years USAF (still hold Secret clearance) and have been there, so this is coming from a point of expertise, not conjecture.

My friend is one who wants to acheive their goal of landing on all the Chanel islands, this island being one of them. They finally received approval to do so and have to undergo a DOD background check. Once they pass, they will be able to visit the island under a "community effort" (picking up trash), under guard watch and transported to and from the island by military personnel (helicopter).

“The fire was so intense, even after it was put out, we were not able to embark on the vessel and look for survivors,” he said.

Sounds like DEW

You are not a diver based on that comment. Night dives are the best, when EVERYTHING comes out, most stuff is hiding during the day. Do a night dives on a wall during a full moon, an experience for sure. Ex underwater welder and burner as well as commercial air diver, when I was 10 feet tall and bullet proof.

According to one news outlet the divers booked for the weekend. They went out Friday night and were to return to the mainland monday at 5:00pm. But I can't believe that they don't have some sort of list as to who was on board.
