First: Thank you and thanks for YOUR service. 24 years was enough of getting beat up and broken. Loved (almost) every minute of it though.

Pretty much sums it up. I get that and I felt the same when I was in. Of those 24 years, I also did of those in SpecOps (1992-1998)...sort of natural thing to have due to your mission, so yeh it's just one of those things you(we) didnt really dwell on because it came with the job. BUT, to someone who hasn't served or hasn't been comfortable in that type of environment may get a bit excited over it. Hence OP's vernacular on the matter and my slightly pedantic correction that technically he's right, coming from his perspective. I was just giving him a little backup in the firefight is all.
And yeh, yer damned right on the Hillary lines...
