The boat that only rescued the crew: "The Grape Escape" Edited* I thought it was called "The Great Escape"

Apparently the way the boat is built. The sleeping quarters are down below because there is supposedly less movement from being in a boat on water and the crew's quarters are above to be close to the bridge. I hope it wasn't a boatload of missing kids.

So, it's normal for an entire crew to just go to sleep at once? No one complained about gas leaking? A ship just blows up? I'm not buying it. It's suspicious as fuck but watch the news and LE just sweep this under the rug.

Vandenberg isn't a top secret base, it simply is a base.

Damn the fluff.

My friend is one who wants to acheive their goal of landing on all the Chanel islands, this island being one of them. They finally received approval to do so and have to undergo a DOD background check. Once they pass, they will be able to visit the island under a "community effort" (picking up trash), under guard watch and transported to and from the island by military personnel (helicopter).

Technically he is correct in saying its a "Top Secret" base, in that you need that clearance to operate there in its main capacity. It's main capacity is a missile launch and testing, space operations and tracking base. "Simply a base", it is not.

Edit: might add I did 24 years USAF (still hold Secret clearance) and have been there, so this is coming from a point of expertise, not conjecture.

I used to do TDY duty at Vandenberg myself, 70s. We launched our missiles there, nothing secret about it. Yeah we all had Top Secret clearances because nukes but the base itself is not a secret, nothing there is secret. Everyone knows we launch from there, back in the day there were more civilians running around there than us Air Force Missile Weenies. We had to tote our guidance equipment there for calibration twice a year on each set, the stuff had to be hand carried by two people for security, we would hang around a week waiting on it with no assigned duties so we'd wander around that part of California in our government vehicle.

Maybe people don't view the fact of secret clearances as I do, everyone I worked with had them, because nukes. Vandenberg was one of the least secured bases I ever spent time upon, civilians wandering around all over back then. On the subject of clearances...any of us who acted as hillary did regarding classified data would still be in Leavenworth, or hanged if it were as egregious as hers.
