My father died when I was twenty but I had already moved out of the house and was starting a family of my own. I didn't even cry over my father's death until the first year anniversary so people work through grief differently.
My parents separated when I was five and my dad had a number of wives after that. None of them tried to be a new-mom and I never treated any of them that way. There was never a conversation it just seemed like an unspoken rule.
Although the last lazy drug whore my father had crashing at his place before I moved out tried asserting her dominance and I had to stomp that shit out right quick. I was 17 and attending college while living at home. Since I was out of high school she gave me this, "Why are you still living at home" line. I told her since all she does is suck cock and do dope why the fuck is she questioning me at all. The house is dirty, you don't cook and you don't suck my cock so go the fuck away.
In regard to the mothers shack-up he needs to tell the guy to go fuck himself. They should be treating each other as equals as they are both adults. I didn't have a curfew or bedtime since the age of 13 but my parents were pretty much parents in name only. They provided a place to sleep, the rest was up to me.
The kid is still in college and living at home, I don't see a problem with that. It would be different if he was unemployed and playing WoW all day long but since he is in his final year of college I don't see the issue.
Living in your parents basement and being a parasite is much different than living in your parents basement and going to college full time.
AITA for asking moms boyfriend to stop trying to parent me? : AmItheAsshole

You can't blame a college student for living with his mom, especially when his dad just died a year ago. College is expensive as fuck and student loan debt blows
