When homes in Levittown were originally sold in 1958, this was billed as a white community. Levitt and Sons had a policy against sales to blacks. Levitt was sued in a case that ultimately went to the New Jersey Supreme Court which ruled against the builder on the grounds that it was illegal in New Jersey to discriminate in federally subsidized housing and that the mortgage insurance provided the builder from the FHA met the definition of a subsidy.

The black population of Levittown increased through the 1960s. In 1964 there were 50 black families. By 1970, blacks represented about 11% of the population. In a 1974 response to white flight the township enacted an ordinance that prohibited the posting of "for sale" or "sold" signs on real estate. The ordinance was challenged and ruled unconstitutional on free speech grounds in 1977. By the time of the 2000 census the racial makeup of the township was 66.71% African American, 24.67% White. As of the 2010 census the racial makeup of the township was 17.31% (5,475) White, 72.74% (23,007) black.

Where did the white people go? Many of them probably purchased McMansions in more exclusive communities in an attempt to price out the blacks. This was surely a boon to the banks. Some probably moved further from the more urban areas and paid instead with the inconvenience of longer commute and few if any public services. The poor bastards that didn't get out are doomed to bear low property value, poor schools and a crime rate considerably higher than the national average.

I'm intrigued by the youtube commentors who are amazed at the articulate speech from the middle class housewives interviewed in the video. None I've read yet have made the connection between this and a public education not dumbed down to the lowest integrated denominator.

Affordable housing isn't for you white man. You must work harder!
