I called this way back when. My wife buys organic all the time and I'm like no fucking way organic is not a label it's a lifestyle it's a farming technique it's labor-intensive there's no way true organic food can be produced so cheaply as it is today in my grocery store it's just a way to increase the profit line. But women being what they are I don't want to hear it they want to believe what they're doing is right fucking cognitive dissonance. I can only imagine how much fucking money I wasted on this fucking bullshit. You think it's going to stop my wife from buying_((organic))) ? Slaving away cutting wood just a shit it down the toilet.

I would tell you that unless someone in your family is seriously nutritionally compromised, with a weakened immune system and with a liver that cannot detox properly, you should not worry that much about eating organically. I personally buy flour from Italy which I do not believe is sprayed with Roundup, and I buy some organic foods, but keeping the liver healthy and eating the proper fats seems to do it for me. I really don't trust that all those things labelled "organic" actually are organic and free of pesticides. Our bodies, though, CAN handle detoxing those we eat in moderate quantities.

Just buy from local farmer if possible that you know... no need for labeling...as long as your farmer does not like chemicals himself...labeling government controlled is a scam...just what I think...

I try hard to be 100% organic and eat nitrates/hormone/antibiotic free meat. Why? I couldn't stand feeling sick ALL the time. I am now symptom free. When I started researching the whole organic thing, especially how to stop consuming glyphosate, I concluded the only way to be sure your veggies are org is to grow them yourself. I now grow all the vegetables I need for 7-8 months of the year. To get through the winter months I freeze peas, green beans, corn and berries. In addition I devote a lot of space to growing veggies that do not require refrigeration or freezing and which can be stored for months in a cold dark cellar. This includes potatoes, winter squash, carrots, cabbage, onions and beets. For the rest of the year eating locally grown/raised food is my top priority, more important than organic if I have to chose. When SHTF and Jeff Bezos decides to shut down Whole Foods I want to know my local farms and farmers' market will be here.

Ex farm employee here, or rather occasional farm hand.... In canuckistan organic is a certification that your farm has been inspected and does not contain certain products (pesticides, herbicides etc, feed for livestock) on site... Whether you use them or not.... as long as they are not on site.

It's a piece of paper saying someone inspected your property. Thats about all it's worth. I'd say most small hobby farms, farmers market are more organic then certified organic commercial farm jobs.

So some farms are "organic", and usually the food is in worse shape and less nutritious then a farm that is not organic since pests and diseases usually yield lower quality product.

It's the same as fresh vs frozen... Frozen veggies are usually frozen right at the farm. And are way more nutritious then fresh which is picked before it's ripe and shipped on trucks and boats all over the world. It looses tons of nutritious value as it "ages"

Defrost frozen meat in ice water for the best taste. Cook frozen vegetables without defrosting.

It's true about the nutritional content.

"Organic" is a meaningless phrase. You should be buying free-range, hormone-free meat. Vegetables don't matter if they're "organic" or not, those just tend to be much higher quality. If you buy at a farmer's market, you'll beat the price in stores every time.
