I took a pretty standard route. Took a gap year, worked night shifts in a factory. Went to uni to study theoretical physics, dropped out at the end of my second year to run a night club. Got depressed, worked a series of rubbish jobs while drinking too much. Started studying again and now have a rubbish job with excellent career prospects. Pretty much what everyone goes through, right?

College for 2 years then dropped out, worked in a sweat shop for 2 years then decided to go back to school, changed majors and moved cross country by myself to go to another school for almost a year now.

I took a year off, with the intention of going to college, never went to college, and went into retail. It's only been 4 years though, so I suppose that it's not too late.

Got my PhD and loved it. I had a bunch of friends have miserable experiences but I had a lot of fun while working hard. It helped that my graduate advisor was an awesome guy that let me run with some crazy ideas. He even fist bumped me after making a big discovery which he initially instructed me not to pursue. Being positive, humble, and working your ass off makes a big difference. Now I'm a professor.

Got my shit together, stopped doing drugs, dropped all my friends and got serious about college. Everything was going great until I met my ex-wife.

I didnt know what I wanted to do. Worked for awhile working as a line cook/caterer, did some sales on the side, moved around, went back to school in my late 20's for social work, graduated with honours. Moving soon, going to enter the trades, better money and honestly social work is emotionally draining.
