I ride my bike for an hour in top gear, no downshifting. I set a goal speed, and try to hold that speed. Each time I go out, I increase the goal speed by 1 mph.

According to this calculator, I burned 1400 calories (just under half a pound of fat) in an hour, yesterday.

But, this doesn't exactly meet the "at home and in short time intervals" criteria.

I normally finish my routine with a plyo exercise of whatever chain I worked that day.

There is much to be said about working out in a fasted state, the benefits in terms of burning fat more efficiently. In my personal experience, I agree.
