Walk around the Pentagon on any given day and tell me they are productive. It's bad enough that government employees are not motivated but to protect their jobs? You can find anyone around the globe to be as unproductive as them. We need to cut government spending and it has to start in house. Cut 10% across the board and let them operate on that for a year. Next year, do the same.

It's a tough call really. The GOV needs good people and job security is the carrot before the horse. When Obama brought about sequestration and civil employees lost 20% of their pay many good workers started hitting the road to find more lucrative opportunities. The bad workers stuck it out but their production got even worse. Even the good workers stopped giving two shits. My department is still playing catch-up from those terribly lean budget years. So without Unions we may be able to trim the fat, but we may not be able to keep good employees when the next Obama decides to fuck the Federal workers.

Fed Unions are about as active as a slug. All they do is collect your money.

And make bad people impossible to fire. We will never have an efficient government while you protect bad people.

unions are just glorified gangs. If everything was legit and fair, there would be no need for them

"Glorified Gangs" nice! "White collar gangs" would be a good name for the Globalists that buy and promote politicians around the world..

The 1st amendment shall not be prohibited.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

so you went the long way around saying it's a constitutional right. Don't you see the irony? If everything was legit and no the up-and-up, there would be no grievances

It is about time that we got to this subject. The government by itself is a union let alone having a independent union to govern its employees. Unions were designed to protect workers from abusive employers and were not intended for government. It has never made sense to me.

Name one that isn't covered by the laws of this country and the NLRB. It's not 1900 anymore and by look of the power that has been transferred to these globalist corporations nothing has changed. They take their money and push corruptible people into positions of power.

Fully with you on this Anon! I hate unions. Being a phone man under electricians union 30 years ago was a joke. I was handled and had to put up with their lack of efforts in standing for me, favoring others below me in rank, and rules to keep my job until an injury told me it was time to quit busting my ass for the company that was getting me nowhere. Unions control this city of Pittsburgh, I am so sick of them. I want them and the Unions destroyed so we can be free of them for eternity.

I worked for the Government UNION of TSA. IT was union right away because of Pittsburgh near the creation of TSA. It was for those who were wanting and securing their job security and unearned pay raises. We had everything else we needed before they voted the union in.

I hear you anon. I was an aircraft mechanic responsible for the lives of hundreds every day and considered "unskilled labor" by the unions and the NLRB. Unions are like Globalists, they foster corruption and enrich themselves at the expense of millions of others.

Unions are like welfare babies, not willing to stand on their own, not willing to throw out the bad and advance the good. Once again, its survival of the fittest stood on its head.

Mixed mode discussion of Gov Unions and General Public Unions. Not the same discussion.

Gov unions need to go. Public unions can do some good, but often don't. Needs work. Another discussion.
