Vodka. There's a reason the Russians drink it. It's cheap, relatively odorless, and it gets the job done. A functioning alcoholic (aka a resident of Wisconsin) can have a few cocktails and no one will be the wiser. Beer and rum are delicious but one drink will linger on your breath for hours.

Yeah, that's basically my go to. It's usually on sale here, and readily available. Thank god for the public transportation here!

I'm not an alcoholic but I hate the smell of vodka. I wouldn't call it odorless in the least.

That's what i thought.. I can smell it on others and sometimes even myself. However, it's still cheap :)

I used to drink too much when depressed; hard liquor to the point of passing out. I don't know if I'd call myself an alcoholic because I was functional, but I suppose that's what you're asking for. There were times I woke up the next school day still drunk and was very glad that I carpooled to university.
I have digestive problems that have gotten worse over the years. More than one or two drinks makes me feel sick and I will likely puke. Otherwise I'd still do the same. I still want to when I feel bad. I just can't keep enough down to get more than a little buzzed.

That's why i love the public transportation here. About the getting sick, Is this a sign the liver is failing or it it just the body trying to say that this needs to stop?

I lived in the country 30 min outside of my college town. No transit along the desolate farmlands.
I've always had stomach issues. Lots of food makes me sick and booze does too now. I don't know how my liver health is.
I suspect part of it is psychological. One morning I woke up so drunk still I was puking from the alcohol levels and the taste has been a turn off ever since. I don't really want to die from drowning in aspirated vomit.
