Yes. And the schadenfreude will be delightful.

If Trump continues to do well in the polls, the GOP may end up having to decide to keep him to remain relevant in the election. Jeb can't generate the kind of thunder Trump has generated. Trump is a breath of fresh air in politics: He's belligerent, outrageous, outspoken, and not afraid to face his opponents with a stern voice and strong position. He does not back down, for better or for worse, and actively challenges his opponents. He outright calls out bias when he sees it, and makes it well known that he doesn't want to play around.

In other words, he's the only republican candidate for many years with a set of balls, and people like that.

If El Chapo has his way, Trump will be a literal martyr

I don't know, that McCain jab was not a shout against political correctness.

He will be the martyr of some, but not even the majority of his own party. The Republicans are still a national party because their most passionate can fund their efforts. They have been unwilling to budge on a number of views that are politically unpopular and will become even more unpopular as younger voters come of age and white people become the minority.

Granted, things can change (America could have a religous awakening for example). But right now, my money is on the democratic party.

Since you can't evaluate a political statement without knowing where a man stands, I live in liberal state and lean conservative for that state on the belief that we've become entirely uncompetitive for business.

Trump will not be barred from the debates. I believe Fox News (duh) has already established the criteria for whom they will include, and if Trump meets that threshold, they won't exclude him.

Of course the rest of the candidates hate him because he's sucking out all the air in the room, and none of them can get any real coverage. Plus, he's dragging the Republican party towards the lunatic fringe--not out of principle--but only to stroke his own ego and get his Q-rating higher. He's not a serious political candidate, he'll NEVER win any election, and his antics are 100% self-serving. I predict that if he's forced to conform to a rigid debate protocol, he'll fare poorly and his opponents will eviscerate him.

To be fair, it worked great against Ron Paul just a few years ago.

We over here in Britland had a similar thing this year with Nigel Farage. He has very strong anti-immigration views and people wondered if he should be allowed to be part of the national debates. He was accepted and he was on the debates and he was fucking insane. He blamed everything on immigration and spread the message that if only immigrants were banned then everything would be better. Because of this everyone saw how batshit he was and I think it ended up having a negative effect. He still got about 4 million votes I think, but because of the way the system works here he only got one MP.

Basically what I'm saying is that they should actually let Trump into the debates. If he's insane then people will see that for themselves. If they think he has a point then that's just the way it works. Hiding him will only create sympathy. Give him a platform no matter the stupid shit he says. Let more people hear it and hear what he has to say straight from his mouth.

Do you have any idea how moronic and unthinking that half of Americans are?

I'm aware of that. As I said Farage still managed to get an alarming number of votes. But if you give him a microphone and you let him speak his own words then there will be no twisting them. His meaning will be clear. Just like the time he said that Mexican immigrants are rapists and drug lords. It's fucked up he said that but now there's no denying he said that.

This is the smart approach so it will never happen in America

Then he just gets to blather on about "Muh freedom of speech" and come across as a martyr.
