He has made a point of taking the least and worst, and making something good come from them (turning a tax collector into a moderately holy follower of God, much like taking the people most like tax collectors collectively, and making salvation for all come as a result of their existence and self-serving actions). it seems like a recurring theme.

Only the New Testament can be taken as the word of God, in my opinion. Who sections historically did not happen; for example, the Jews were never slaves in Egypt, and likely never even lived there. Even Wikipedia states this.

as i understand it, its their historical records as they understood their history. its interesting in that it is very unflattering to themselves, but i dont doubt that they were especially accurate. the grains of truth are worth noting, but thats about it. i dont think it belongs among anything resembling the Words of the LORD, but is worth studying. like a window into some part of their minds.
