Oddly enough, I disagree. I think marijuana has genuine medical uses, esp. regards cancer treatment. But what it does to one's mind is fucked up. I think it deserves research for its medical applications. It's not a toy.

Incorrect. The media reports what they want people to believe. Yes, THC has caused cancerous tumors to stop growing. Here's what they're not telling you:
Concentrated amounts (you don't get that through eating or smoking)
Directly injected into the tumor (again, you don't get that through eating/smoking)
In mice (are you a mouse?)
You do not get enough to do a damn thing by eating or smoking it. It does not go to where it's needed by eating or smoking it. For your

Oh, and the kicker is .. you won't get high from that medical procedure. Depending on where the tumor is, they may not even use local anesthetics.
