Use a separate browser with built in vpn service. That way you’ll only expose your dark persona. Not your public self.

This is just one obvious way that you are tracked. There are many other ways that require more in depth knowledge and more complex tools to prevent. It's a good start, but most sites do not rely on this method of tracking you.
The simple of it is this: if you are on the internet, VPN or otherwise, you are being tracked. Trust no URL, VPN, ISP or browser. You cannot get around all of them.

People aren't tracking you directly through these methods. They simply collect the information, correlate it to other information they have or have purchased and build a more complete profile of your activities. That correlated data is then useful for searching specific data points when they want to target an individual or smaller group. It's far more efficient to have a well curated and correlated data set than to simply watch you through a web cam or listen in on a microphone. You are the product. You will always be tracked, targeted and analyzed for profit or control. Just being on the internet is all that it takes to be caught up in this net.

Can someone explain how one can remove the URL tracking from a link???

Read the article. It explains it. A good way to do it is copy and paste into a text or word document. Then highlight everything after and including the "?" and delete. What is left should be the url stripped of all the bullshit.
