I think not so much in Australia these days. Cost of living is high and getting higher. It just makes sense.

In Japan they call them "Parasite Singles." I've never been, but from what I've read, they're not the most respected demographic

Definitely not taboo in Australia. Quite a normal occurrence if young adults are studying, travelling a lot or even still saving a large deposit to enter the property market.

Not in Australia, not in your early twenties, where most people continue to live with their parents until after they finish university. Unlike the US, most people go to university in the same city they grew up in.

I moved out at 23, about halfway through my PhD, though.

Living with your parents once you've got a job is unusual, though. Unless your parents are Greek or Italian or something, in which case you're expected to stay at home until you get married.
