The question of the hour for me is: The police were established to protect whom?

In 1838, the city of Boston established the first American police force, followed New York City in 1845, Albany, NY and Chicago in 1851, New Orleans and Cincinnati in 1853, Philadelphia in 1855, and Newark, NJ and Baltimore

In cities more distant from the South than Cincinnati, the number of Southern-born blacks grew steadily during the antebellum years. By 1860, 65 percent of Detroit's African American population had been born in the South. In other Northern cities, too, southern migrants were becoming a more significant proportion of the African-American population. In Boston, almost 30 percent of the city's blacks were migrants, as were more than half in Chicago, almost one-third in Philadelphia, and close to 40 percent in Buffalo. Migration from their Southern homes was not easy, but as the antebellum period wore on, more and more African Americans made the move.

The police existed in Boston since the mid-late 1600's, but they cleared the drunk, passed out bums off the streets and did stuff like that. They weren't going around arresting people like today.

From the article, it seems that the police was established by Jews to protect their business interests at the expense of the public:

The emerging commercial elites needed a mechanism to insure a stable and orderly work force, a stable and orderly environment for the conduct of business, and the maintenance of what they referred to as the "collective good" (Spitzer and Scull 1977). These mercantile interests also wanted to divest themselves of the cost of protecting their own enterprises, transferring those costs from the private sector to the state.

The word Police comes from Policies and who makes the policies? The politicians! The purpose of the police is to enforce and protect the policies made by the politicians.

In an ideal, racially homogenous, small population of people, sure.

But once you start adding in other races and increasing the number of people in an area they start to need policing. This is common sense.

This is common sense.

Is it? Do you believe citizens could not maintain order on their own?

Happy white citizens in a small town sure can.

lol none of you would have survived on any street in the 1800s. Citizens did not maintain order in a lot of places. Some got lucky to get a bad ass in as Sherrif to clean up the streets but most had to put up with a lot of abuse and a lot of murders. A town with 20,000 people back in the 1800s had 3500 murders a year think about that. I dont know where the hell you ever got the impressin it was law and order it was the exact opposite of that. That is how the police force came in.

So every single person in town is murdered within 6 years?

You did not need police when the country was whiter because it was a safer country and if a situation did arise then they had their weapons to protect themselves and others.

Doubt it. Highway robbers were a common threat to travelers and farmers for centuries. Most common folk didn't have weapons until industrialization made them affordable. Crime was far easier to get away with as well.

In 19th century Britain the local police were controlled by the Watch Committee. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watch_committee

Before the police were created the city streets of Britain and the USA were patrolled by 'Watchmen' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchman_(law_enforcement)

At some point we invented fire as well. People had been doing just fine without fire for hundreds of thousands of years prior to this.

Don't buy in to this new-fangled need for (((fire))).

A "constable" enforced the law along with a MOB RULE. . kinda sounds like that would be much worse
