Bill Weld is former governor of MASSACHUSETTS. I think you got confused because he was the V.P. candidate for the libertarian party in 2016. The 2016 presidential candidate from the libertarian party was the former governor of NM, Gary Johnson.

2019-06-28 | Bill Weld and the Rationale of a GOP Challenge to Trump | RealClearPolitics
'With issues such as climate change and automation at the forefront of Weld’s campaign, he could win over voters attuned to those concerns as well. '
'Bill Weld is running for national office again. '
'The twist this time is that Weld is cut from GOP establishment cloth -- a patrician New England Republican who emerged on the scene during the Reagan years. '
'It’s particularly difficult to fit Weld into a classic conservative mold, however, because of his liberal views on the environment and marijuana legalization. '
'In the 1992 primaries, President George H.W. Bush received a challenge from former White House insider Pat Buchanan, who tallied 37% of the vote. '

We didn't like him as a VP for the Libertarian party, but honored Gary's choice, My self I wanted McAfee, for cyber security, privacy reasons. Automation and how society will work as the technology advances, is something we need to have a civil conversation about, but will never happen with the current MSM, and Marxists.
