Kinda points to how fatuous it is for some libertarian conservatives to call themselves 'constitutionalists' - as there is no more a uniform, standard agreed to position of what the Constitution says than anything else in our deadlocked society. These guys say this as if they are reciting from sacred writ that is objectively true and acknowledged.

as there is no more a uniform, standard agreed to position of what the Constitution says than anything else in our deadlocked society.

This has been brought about intentionally.

There has been a concerted effort to shame, slander, and side-line anyone who reminds Americans what The Constitution is and why it is so important to Americans over the past 40 years.

2019-05-02 | Democrats and Republicans Have Different Constitutions - The Atlantic

'Democratic and Republican politicians agree on one thing about President Donald Trump’s tax returns: The Constitution determines who can see them. '

'Democrats such as Representative David Cicilline insist that Congress needs access to fulfill its “constitutional responsibilities of oversight” and evaluate possible violations of the Constitution’s emoluments clauses. '

' In political debates such as the Trump tax tussle, it often feels as if the United States has two legal charters, one for Republicans and another for Democrats. '

'But, far from serving as a symbol of “unity and common purpose,” the Constitution has come to enable, or even exacerbate, partisan strife. '

'Elected officials from both parties appeal routinely to the nation’s foundational document. '

This is what happens when you make a constitution that is too discreet and based purely on concepts. Its bound to be engineered to fit the perspective of certain people.

You cannot expect that something that fits in with the interpretation of some time long past will continue to have that same interpretation in the future.

One can believe in the original form of the constitution as it was meant or believe it as it allows certain things based on the language used in the constitution.
