You can believe "fudge factors" all you want, but that's just a convenient way to cover up what you don't want to believe could be possible.

Science is based on hypothesis and evidence. What use is a hypothesis if evidence can never be collected in favor or against it? No one can observe what happened at the start of the universe.

No one can observe when life took hold either so should we not make any hypotheses about the origin of life and how it works because we did not see it happen? Science is absolute but our understanding of it isn't. This is something that has to be accepted in order to pursue knowledge.
