Ryzen 5 2400g, SATA SSD, and dual channel memory. And stop with your liquid cooling bullshit.

This is a box I'd probably remote into a lot and use it for code compilation as well as video transcoding. Just don't want it to sound like a hurricane since a lot of that could be happening when my wife is sleeping the next room over.

It's been a while since I've looked into buying hardware, but my understanding was that liquid cooling and budget really don't go together. Unless prices fell, my guess is you would be better off with buying the right case and fans rather than the liquid cooling stuff, but idk.

Maybe close the room door(s)? I doubt it'd be too loud for a wife in the other room unless that's been an issue in the past.

So far you're being vague and contradictory with your requests. If you won't be satisfied with an APU, why not just wait for the Ryzen 2 release, then see if you can get yourself a Ryzen 5 3600? Also, if you could cut out your liquid cooling bullshit....

Just don't want it to sound like a hurricane since a lot of that could be happening when my wife is sleeping the next room over.

Do you think liquid cooling is silent or something?

The 5 is 6 cores, right? I was leaning towards a 7 for more cores since I do compile a lot of code. Maybe that's not that important.

4 physical cores, 8 threads. GPU integrated. If you're asking for a budget build to game and do some work, this, paired with some mini ITX Mobo will get the job done with minimal money and footprint. Under $700 garaunteed.

If you're looking for a workstation, and $1,000 is your budget, you may as well wait for the new Ryzen processors. They've got all the cores and threads you need for way cheaper than Intel. Then just slap on an RX 570 for a GPU and you're good to go. Depending how the prices for the CPU's and (compatible) mobos work out, you may even have money to spare.

We both probably already know, but the Ryzen 7 2700 is going for something like $200 as it is. I doubt its replacement will be that much worse.

Ultimately, you know your situation best.

Aiming around 1000. Reason I wanted liquid is that I'll occasionally be running some several hour data processing as well overnight and would like to mitigate the noise some. It's been a while since I've had a desktop but I'm well familiar with having a ton of fans working full speed and it sounds like a plane taking off. Wasn't too sure on the GPU. I was thinking a 580 or 590 but I guess I should compare benchmarks.

Not sure about your air vs water claim. Water has a higher specific heat capacity than air. May not matter in this specific application but it's a thing.

$1000 is not a "budget" build. Rather, it is, in the sense that you have a budget. For that much cash, you may as well shell out for Threadripper or something. You have a twisted sense of money's value is fucked as fuck.

Here is one im working on. Does rely on have a microcenter close for the CPU price and mobo bundle pricing.

You're going to need a graphics card in there. I recommend the RX 570. Fairly cheap, good for 1080p gaming, and can be made fairly power efficient with a bit of tweaking. Also comes with 2 newly released games (Division 2 and World War Z) that you can sell for additional savings.

RX 570 is a good card for the price. Bought a Sapphire Nitro RX 570 for this build. Claiming the games is a pain in the ass.

Pretty sure there is a microcenter in Towson so I can get there...
